Today we rode out of Siam Reap and visited the ancient ruins of Angkor Wat and Angkor Thom. There is no need to get all ‘National Geographic’, as I will assume if you are reading this blog you are on the internet and most likely familiar with Google. Needless to say I was amazed at the unbelievable architectural feats achieved by the ancient Khmer civilisation at as time in history when the population of London was less than 30,000 people. While somewhat overrun with tourists, (yes, I know that I am one of them) Angkor is still a mysterious and fascinating place.
In the photo below Dan ponders the big questions: why is there a hole there? Where does it go? Is there something up there? Can I get up there? Would anyone notice if I climbed up there?
