Day 40 & 41

The Garage Bar became our home for the next 2 days as we got ourselves and our bikes sorted. Our new Russian friend, and bar owner, Nikolay was an awesome host and shared our passion for bikes. The bar was cool, the company was good and the beers were cold. In stories that are best left off the internet, I will summarise that alcohol was consumed, friends were made, music was played (and performed impromptu), Dan had a head-on collision with a local on a scooter, there was arm wrestling and a pet lizard (these things did not all occur concurrently).
These lay days are seldom and provided a good opportunity for some attention on the bike and a general service and tidy-up was undertaken. Here I should mention that I have ridden this far on a harder-than-standard dirt bike seat. Not ideal for a 40,000km ride. A mixture of stubbornness, persistence, laziness and unwillingness to stop had gotten me this far but I was looking forward to using the opportunity for an upgrade. Upon hearing my conundrum, Nikolay drove me into town where I paid about $15 for a new, triple padded, custom seat. Nikolay politely smiled as I played charades with the upholsterer to convey ‘this seat is hard and it hurts my ass (pointing to ass).
