Westbound and Down

Our plan was to stay in this hotel for one more night and make for Pakistan tomorrow. When I asked the young lady at the front counter if we could extend, she politely informed me that would not be possible and we would have to find another hotel. I had to convince myself we were not booted on account of our unpleasant odour, our general unkempt appearance (I hear 'homeless chic' is a fashion look now), or the fact Leaky Pete the TTR was leaving a nice black oil tattoo on the hotel's front entrance.
We found another cheap hotel nearby because we need the Wi-Fi to arrange Pakistan and camping isn’t really an option in a crowded Indian city. On the subject of cities, Amristar has been one of the better planned cities I have stayed in a while; where we stayed had actual footpaths and formal parking! But I’ll try not to bore you with my Urban Design observations - they are for a university unit I am doing as part of the trip (as if staying alive and writing this blog isn’t keeping me busy enough). Though I shouldn’t complain - when my wife and son visited me in Bangkok I was reminded she has the hard job, not me.
Anyway, nothing to really report today except I waked two blocks to buy this keyboard to type on my smartphone, and after 2 shops telling me what I wanted did not exist, the third shop had several. I was relieved at finally finding one and making the 1km walk back to the hotel in the hot Indian sun. Unfortunately I had forgotten to take my wallet so it was an unpleasant walk x2. When the ‘T’ button didn’t work and I took it back it was unpleasant walk x3.
The rest of the night was spent catching up on blog (me) and preparing a breadcrumb trail of hostels to cross Pakistan (Dan).
